Colours Are Going Back In Time This Spring

Recently, we were listening to internationally renowned Brian Gluckstein on Cityline, who was talking about the latest trends that’ll be seen in fashionable homes this spring. The Canadian interior designer was excited about the resurgence of bright colours and using them in the home as decorating details. But it’s not just any bright colour Gluckstein is talking about – it’s the electric shades made popular in the 1980s!

After all that grey that’s been dominating decors for the past decade, it’s refreshing to see vibrant bursts of cobalt blue, avocado green, tangerine orange, harvest gold, fuchsia and chartreuse entering into the equation again. It’s like flashing back to the ’80s… only with less hairspray.

Don’t be overwhelmed by these colours – it’s easy to infuse them into your décor. You can add them in with smaller décor items, such as throw pillows, lamps, door knobs, furniture pulls, area rugs and bedding. If you’re bold, you’ll want to stand out and make a bright statement with sofas, chairs, coffee tables, and even a cobalt blue bathtub!
